Summary We are looking for is an inspirational leader to join our senior team and lead our stakeholder management, policy, advocacy and communications agenda in Northern Ireland. You will provide cohesion and strategic thinking as to how we deliver our new strategy and extend the reach of our charitable aims at country level, reflecting our distinctive context. There is no other organisation like the National Trust. This role will support and ensure that the strategic ambitions of Northern Ireland the region are realised through the coordination of long term horizon scanning across the policy and advocacy environment. Throughexcellent communication skills, applying insight, and a sound understanding of the external context, you will work to increase understanding of the Trust?s core purpose and enhance our reputation and influence with key stakeholders, politicians, civic society leaders and opinion formers. Internally you will be known as External Affairs & Corporate Communications Manager - Countries What it?s like to work here You?ll be part of the country?s senior management team and work closely with the our group of experts in our internal consultancy. Your contractual place of work will be the National Trust office at Rowallane Gardens, Saintfield or Belmont Tower, Belfast. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We?ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40?60% of your working week. What you?ll be doing You?ll be a strong advocate and communicator working with a range of stakeholders to support the delivery of the Trust?s strategy, working both on our sites and beyond our boundaries. You?ll support and lead in a range of relationships across Northern Ireland, deepening both the relationships and the understanding of the Trusts work both at a local and national level. You?ll champion our cause and ensure the effective management of our reputation, while minimising any risks that may arise. You?ll be a trusted advisor and a key member of the country management team and a real leader in your field, taking on national lead roles where necessary and working closely alongside the Country Director. We will look to you to provide thought-leading insight and share best practice, as you develop and deliver an effective, well-rounded stakeholder plan and policy agenda for Northern Ireland. You?ll lead a team of external affairs specialist and marketing and communications consultants and develop their capacity to multiply the effectiveness of our external affairs and communications work. Who we?re looking for An inspirational and visionary leader, you are able to demonstrate the ambition and ability to build a dynamic team culture through your strong coaching and mentoring skills A clear understanding of the UK political system and how this relates to NI and local government decision making Good knowledge and experience of working on environment and cultural/heritage policy issues With a clear understanding of marketing and communications processes and planning, you have experience of reputational risk management and crisis communications With excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills, you?re able to work collaboratively with other senior team members as well as building productive external relationships. You?re a creative and structured thinker who?s able to understand and resolve complex problems and issues finding simple and deliverable solutions.
