Do you want to make a difference in another person?s life? We?re seeking an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join our team on a permanent basis. In a nutshell, you?ll provide a high-quality frontline service to people at the highest risk of domestic abuse using a client-centred trauma-informed approach. In this role, you?ll be responsible for identifying and assessing the risks and needs of domestic abuse victims using an evidence-based risk identification checklist which will enable a dynamic and personal safety plan to meet the individual needs of a client and their family. You?ll advise clients on civil and criminal remedies and their housing rights. You?ll support clients through the MARAC process, working closely with the police and other agencies to advocate for your client?s overall well-being. Our IDVA?s are crucial to the delivery of high-quality service to the victims of domestic abuse. You?ll have comprehensive knowledge of current legislation both criminal and civil relating to domestic abuse including data protection and confidentiality, as well as a good understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on adults and children, including how to use legislation and best practice to safeguard them. Experience in adopting a trauma-informed approach is essential to your client?s work. Formal qualifications such as IDVA or a willingness to undertake IDVA training are preferable. You?ll be able to continue learning and developing your skills as an IDVA.
