Hours: 37 hours Annual leave: 30 per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays Pension: LGPS Pension Scheme The Technical Trainer is responsible for a caseload of learners participating in training. Technical Trainers contribute to the design and delivery of learning programmes and assessments, to enable participants to successfully achieve their qualifications to include full Apprenticeship standards. Technical Trainers liaise closely with Employers and have a key role in developing learners to achieve their learning goals and inspiring them to overcome barriers. To commit to the College?s Safeguarding Policy and promote a safe environment for children, young people and vulnerable adults within the College Responsibilities/Key Tasks To plan, conduct and participate in induction and initial assessment of learners to identify realistic learning priorities and, in liaison with the employer, develop individual learning plans and agree realistic completion targets. This will include ensuring that employers have a full understanding of the requirement for Apprentices to complete off the job training. To develop, deliver and manage units within the Machining BTEC. To develop, manage and maintain good relationships with external partners, local employers and appropriate agencies to recruit learners. To provide information, advice and guidance to learners and employers to promote learning and timely achievement of the agreed learning aims and SMART objectives. Assessment of knowledge, skills and behaviours, and the delivery and assessment of Apprenticeship Standards and competencies against NVQ programmes where required. To maintain a minimum caseload of learners. Assist them to achieve NVQ qualifications and the Apprenticeship Standard and prepare them for End Point Assessment. Develop business with existing employers and identifying new opportunities. To work in a team to plan and deliver a structured scheme of work and develop lesson plans that meet the learning needs of learners and the delivery and assessment of knowledge, skills and behaviours. Support the continued evaluation of learning needs and objectives, through regular review and attendance as required at best practice groups. To comply with the contractual standards with emphasis on recruiting participants, managing retention and achievements. To establish a purposeful learning environment, where learners feel safe, secure, confident and valued. To meet targets and support the organisation in the delivery of its? corporate strategy. To conduct health and safety risk assessments of employers / potential employers ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, prior to finalising a contract work based training. In consultation with the employer, monitor and review learners? progress in the work place to ensure the achievement of qualification standards. To contribute to the performance management of the programme, monitoring key performance indicators, such as learner numbers, attendance, timeliness of achievement. To participate in the continuous improvement cycle through programme and self-assessment reviews, attendance at staff meetings, working groups, development projects and activities related to the Education Inspection Framework. Market & promote Northern Skills services to identify potential learners and employers to effectively contribute to the recruitment of learners. Maximum occupancy on training programmes. Learner retention as per contractual requirements. Achievement and progression rates as per contractual requirements. Accurate and Timely completion of paper work (e.g. Learner Contact Reports, Reviews, Questionnaires, and enrolment documentation). Minimum level of unfunded learners. Person Specification Qualifications Level 3 Machining qualification or similar/equivalent - Essential English and Maths GCSE grade C or above- or equivalent - Essential TAQA or A1 assessor qualification, or willing to work towards- Desirable Teaching qualification, or willing to work towards - Desirable. Award in Internal Verification or V1, or willing to work towards - Desirable. Experience Industry experience - Essential Practical occupational experience as required by Code of Practice and relevant awarding bodies. Experience of working in a commercial and industrial setting Proven track record of consistently achieving performance targets. Proven track record of imparting skills and learning to others.
